Alexey Miranchuk scored late in the second half to help Atlanta United earn a 1-1 draw against host CF Montreal on Saturday.

Miranchuk was right at the goal line to get up for a header off a corner, and he put it past goalkeeper Thomas Gillier to pull Atlanta level.

The draw extended Atlanta's (4-11-10, 22 points) winless stretch to nine matches (0-4-5) while Montreal (4-15-7, 19 points) failed to earn consecutive wins, which they were trying to accomplish for the first time this season.

Atlanta dominated possession early in the game, controlling 70.5 percent of the touches by the 17th minute, but couldn't get one by Gillier.

Gillier, making his first start in MLS play, denied the visitors on a pair of chances in the 16th minute, getting his hand up to push away an attempt from Emmanuel Latte Lath high in the box and moments later diving to punch away a header from Miguel Almiron.

Montreal started to take control as the half progressed and created more opportunities. In the 22nd minute, Luca Petrasso was left alone at the far post on a Montreal corner and his header just missed the back of the net.

Dante Sealy had a quality chance in the 27th minute with a shot from distance that hit the right post.

Atlanta had the chance to grab the lead in the 30th minute when Latte Lath collected the ball off a giveaway by former teammate Efrain Morales but missed just wide of the net.

Sealy put Montreal ahead 1-0 in the 40th minute. Prince Owusu took the ball from the left sideline and cut to the inside before pushing it up to the middle for Caden Clark. At the edge of the box, Clark sent a feed to his right to an oncoming Sealy, who delivered a strike into the far side of the net.

The visitors had a chance to equalize in the 56th minute when Saba Lobjanidze spotted Brooks Lennon getting behind the Montreal defense, but Gillier came off his line to get in front of the opportunity.
