Former world No. 1 Jason Day of Australia and Taylor Pendrith of Canada withdrew from the John Deere Classic on Thursday.
Day, who is now 137th in the Official World Golf Ranking, exited with a back injury. He was replaced in the field by Ted Potter.
The 34-year-old Day has 12 PGA Tour victories, including the 2015 PGA Championship. He also finished tied for second in the 2011 Masters in addition to posting second-place finishes at the 2011 and 2013 U.S. Opens.
Pendrith had missed the previous three months of action after reportedly sustaining a fractured rib at the Players Championship. He hoped to return on Thursday, however TSN reported that he tested positive for COVID-19.
Pendrith was replaced in the field by K.J. Choi.
