Large-scale demonstration held in Lebanon

Toronto Telegraph Sunday 13th March, 2011

Thousands of people protested on Sunday over the political system in Lebanon.

Massing in Beirut, the demonstrators expressed anger at Hezbollah and the assassination in 2005 of former Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri, which has been blamed on senior Hezbollah figures.

The demonstrators demanded a secular and democratic state.

Lebanon has been without a government since Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri, the son of the murdered PM, was toppled by the religiously oriented Hezbollah in January.

Our nuclear programmes are completely transparent. The sanctions are unfair, the Iranian people are suffering, and our (nuclear) activities are legal. These sanctions are illegal and only benefit Israel.
