Scarborough daycare stays open, Mayor Ford aware of problems

A representative from Ford’s office said that staff had been keeping the mayor up to speed on what happened with Progress since news broke late last week. Adrienne Batra, Ford’s press secretary, told The Globe that the city had been "aware of Progress’s financial challenges and offered operational guidance and advice to the centre, but those offers were declined by the board." Progress’s board will meet with city officials Tuesday.About 100 parents, children and community members gathered at Progress’s main location on Glamorgan Avenue on Sunday to rally for the centre.
